Ella Baker......
Was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 13, 1903. She
used to listen to her grandmother's stories about when she was a slave.When Ella
attended college at Shaw University she challenged many school policies, most of
which she thought were unfair. After she graduated in 1927 she moved to New York
City. She moved on to join social activist organizations. She soon recieved the
nickname "Fundi". "Fundi" means a person who teaches a craft to the next
generation. Ella died on her 83rd birthday, December 13, 1986. She was a great
influence to many people and still people thank her for what she
did.
